Yesterday I went out to get myself a bike. The bike rental was not open until 6:00 pm. So I had two hours of free time and went to eat something typical for the area. 'The taste of India' !!! Fish is only available in the morning.
The process of getting the bikes took a very long time. In the end, I settled for the bike that was 'not good at all', instead of the 'kind of good' one. You can see the beauty in the photo. At least there was an option to exchange it for a trekking bike the next day. On the way back to the vacation rental, something happened that hasn't happened to me in 10 years: I had to push the bike !!!!!!!!! As smart as it was to send my suitcase ahead, it was stupid not to do the same with the bike. So maybe I should go for the trekking bike after all.
This morning at breakfast, I failed with one of those 'push-press-stop coffee machines', but I still found good Nescafe. Around 11:30 am, Mr. Hermes arrived with my suitcase. Then I hopped on this bike and went off to find water. As you can see, I found it. Talked to a nice lady over an iced chocolate. I found out she's from Bielefeld. Then I strolled along the promenade. Here, pedestrians and cyclists can peacefully coexist on their paths. Why is that so difficult in Dortmund? Especially at the Phönix-Pfütze. But it was crowded, very crowded. About as crowded as in the flight path of the Westfalenstadion during a home game. My landlord had warned me. He only rides there when there is no other way. I will ask him for cycling routes recommendations. At least I found a fish stand. Tonight, I will have a piece of butterfish and a herring sandwich with wild garlic. The latter was delicious.
In the afternoon, Marion called. She's on call this weekend, so she has to be at the clinic within 20 minutes. But we will meet tomorrow.
Now I'm sitting on the terrace, writing for my blog, and there's thunder somewhere. Damn - and now it's starting to rain. See you tomorrow ...
