Brisbane - the beginning

Imechapishwa: 08.11.2017

We spent the first two nights in Brisbane for Rahel to overcome jet lag. We were already warned that it is not the most charming city. That was also our impression. Many skyscrapers that rarely fit together. Maybe it was just the gray sky in the morning that put us off. However, with the river that flows through the city, it sometimes has a bit of a small New York feel. ;-)

However, we made the best of it and explored the city in a hurry in one day. Most of the time we were on the CityBikes, for 2 dollars you have access and can borrow a bike from the 150 stations all over the city and ride around for free for 30 minutes. Fast, uncomplicated, and you don't have to walk miles on foot. They are now available in all major cities. In Brisbane, they are operated by the city, not like in Zurich by a Chinese company. We simply recommend taking a picture or saving a map with the stations in case you don't have internet (we spent some time looking for them).

It is also recommended to take the City Hopper, a small ferry that takes you up and down the river for free. We had breakfast at Bagel Boys http://thebagelboys.com.au, very delicious and affordable. Then we visited City Hall with the Clock Tower, cycled through the Botanic Garden and along the river in South Bank. After the picnic, we cooled off at Streets Beach, an artificial beach, and spent the afternoon there. We took the City Hopper back towards the hotel.

In the evening, we celebrated Rahel's first BBQ at Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park with burgers. This place is simply indescribable! BBQ stations with a fantastic view of the Brisbane skyline.

Sorry it took a bit longer to post, but the internet connection in Australia is usually ****. Next, we will pick up the campervan and drive back to Byron.
