It is cold, but rather drizzling than raining. We have to be content! Nevertheless, we continue to flee the weather towards Christchurch. Our destination is on the peninsula behind the city. Akaroa. We make good progress and the weather is constantly improving. The sun is actually shining! Along the way, we run some errands. For dear Jutta, we get a desired jar of honey. Our supplies are still generous, so we will provide our own coffee break today. We find a beautiful spot on the shore of a - well, algae-infested - lake. Instant coffee, muffins, and Lamingtons. Wonderful and delicious. We continue driving. Once again, the roads become smaller and narrower. And the view becomes more and more spectacular! Simply beautiful. When we arrive in Akaroa, we find that the campsite is beautiful, but unfortunately full. There is still a spot without electricity, in the last corner. The doll is tempted, but not me. After all, we are not sitting at the kids' table. So we continue to Duvauchelle... but they are fully booked there as well. As well as in Little River... So we continue towards Christchurch, surely we will find something nice along the way. But before we know it, we arrive in Christchurch. Alright... then we will stay here for the night. The Top 10 campsite at least has a hot tub, that's a little consolation.
For the last compact lock evening, we brew a particularly delicious feast! New Zealand salmon, cauliflower with cheese sauce and potatoes. We serve it with local Chardonnay. Delicious!
