Before we went our separate ways, we spent one more day together in Constanța, a port city on the Black Sea. First, we visited the harbor and the former casino by the sea. Then, we went to the city center and eventually to the beach.
Constanța was founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC and later occupied mainly by the Romans and Bulgarians. Between 1420 and 1878, the city belonged to the Ottoman Empire until it eventually passed to Romania. During the interwar period, the port city became Romania's most important trading center.
