... were total chaotic, to say the least, a horror for me.
November 4th and 5th, 2018:
Germany, Holland, and Belgium were great, but then came France. In order to save tolls, I wanted to drive on country roads. Some parts were very nice, but you just can't make progress. Sometimes you can drive 90, then 70, then you constantly come across small villages where you can only drive 50. And when you're looking for gas stations, you deviate from the route, end up in cities, where access to the gas stations is blocked due to a sports event, and the search starts all over again... and and and.
Constant roundabouts, and then you should turn onto Rue de SoundSo, but it's not even on the signs and suddenly you have taken a wrong turn and end up in the middle of nowhere and it takes hours to get back on track.
Yesterday I slept in a small village by the road in a curve, because I couldn't find anything on the internet and it was already getting dark.
Today didn't go much better. I left at 7:30 in the morning and only arrived at the campsite in Lyon at 10 PM. Again, turning errors cost me a lot of time and nerves. Arriving at a campsite in complete darkness is not fun, especially when no one is at the reception anymore and I was supposed to wait outside the barrier - if it wasn't for the nice Dutch people who helped me to get in. And thank god I had a flashlight, otherwise I wouldn't have found the power connection. I am so exhausted after 12 hours of driving today that I actually just wanted a glass of wine and a warm meal. Unfortunately, the Italian restaurant, which is a few meters away, just closed. But I still got a glass of wine. Now I am sitting here in the caravan at 23:50 writing this blog and I feel really dizzy. I think that's because of the circulation due to all the tension today.
Dear people, I just fall into bed, I didn't even manage to take a shower today - that will have to wait until tomorrow.
Good night!
