On Monday evening we took the night bus from Calama to Caldera. We slept great, because there are two types of bus seats. In the Semi Casa you can recline the seats like in Europe and in Salon Cama (which we chose) you can recline the seat 60° backwards, so you can lay comfortably. It is comparable to the 1st and 2nd class in Swiss trains, but you can enjoy even more comfort on these buses. 😉 When we arrived in Caldera, we brought our luggage to our hostel and explored the city.
Caldera is a small port city on the Pacific (we saw the Pacific for the first time on our journey. 😊) It has a church that was built by Gustave Eiffel (engineer of the Eiffel Tower).
One remarkable and well-known beach in this region is Bahía Inglesa. It is about 5km away from Caldera and we walked there on foot. (There is also the possibility to rent a bike. 🚲)
