Last Saturday we explored the Maramureș region with the minibus. In the region, there are Hungarian and German minorities, which is why you often find bilingual signs. Maramureș also borders Ukraine and the landscape is characterized by numerous mountains. For example, we visited a wooden church recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the 'merry cemetery', a monastery complex, and a former prison. The latter was mainly used by the communist party to imprison political opponents. We also had the opportunity to get to know the 'traditional' life of some villagers.
