Those who have been following us from the beginning will know that the last 2.5 weeks of our journey were still unplanned. We wanted to go with the flow and decide where to go next on a gut feeling.
And that's what we did. First we thought back and forth - Malaysia, Vietnam... or both? No, not both. Both of our dream has always been to travel to Australia.
Actually, both of us had buried this idea for the next few years. Too expensive, too far, too big, too demanding.
But why? Who says that? It started as a crazy idea in my head - once again. And it became serious. Australia - should we go?
Together with Mom and Dad, we made the decision: if not now, when? We're flying to Australia.
But first we had to rearrange. We canceled our hotel on Koh Ko Khao. We had planned to spend four lonely days there, but now we want to use those days for Australia - go big or go home.
We were supposed to leave on Friday evening, but then the flights were €200 cheaper on Thursday evening.
In Speedy Gonzales speed, I searched blogs and travel tips for Australia and then we booked our flights for Thursday evening on Wednesday afternoon.
From Phuket to Melbourne and on the 24th from Perth to Kuala Lumpur.
The anticipation was huge, but for me there was also a bit of sadness. Because the Australian adventure meant saying goodbye to Thailand and an early farewell to Mom and Dad.
We spent a beautiful day at the beach together and ate at our favorite restaurant before heading to the airport.
I have written this many times before but the time with Mom and Dad as grandma and grandpa was truly GOLD. So beautiful to see and of course I love having them around. It was very special to be able to share this journey with them for a certain time. And for that I am very very grateful.
I am also thankful for having spent another 5 amazing weeks in Thailand.
Too high curbs, holes in the ground, dangling cables, dust, dirt, creepy crawlies, hot air, sometimes stinky air, a script that no one can read... it all sounds extremely shitty... but I love it. I love it and I could list 100 more things that make Thailand the land of my heart. For now and forever.
And that's why I know for sure that we will come back. When? No idea but we will return. ❤️
Speaking of coming back - back to the story: overnight, we went to Melbourne. The 8 hours passed quickly because all three of us could sleep.
Arriving in Melbourne (OMG we are really in Australia), we drove to St. Kilda beach with the rental car. We spent a few hours there, then checked into our hotel and had Mexican food - a pleasure.
Tomorrow we want to continue exploring the city. And after that? Still uncertain. We're going with the flow because it makes us incredibly happy at the moment.
