We have planned only two nights for the capital of Peru. From here, we will be flying to San Jose in Costa Rica later. We have booked a small hotel, very close to the old town, only a bridge separates us from the 'good side' of the city. In fact, our neighborhood 'Rimac' is considered infamous and wicked🙈. The center of the old town is the Plaza Mayor; the beautiful square is bounded by the huge and well-guarded Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the Town Hall. In the old town and the integrated pedestrian zone, we find some beautiful historic buildings with typical wooden balconies. The market is not as colorful and worth seeing as expected, so the tour ends quickly. For dinner, we stay near the square and end up in a restaurant where the waiter reveals himself as a Rammstein fan and lets us, as Germans, participate in a live concert through TV at excessively loud volume 🙉. The colleagues are not amused, but he insists and occasionally shouts a martial 'Fire' or 'Mother' in our ear😳.
