Day 72 to 76 - Boracay sun, sea and beach 🏝️

Boracay is a beautiful little island that is a very popular holiday destination, especially among Filipinos and Koreans. The island does not have its own airport. After a short flight, we landed on the neighboring island of Caticlan. The airport is really very small. There is no baggage carousel, the 🧳 🎒 is simply passed through a gate, everything is very simple. There is a shuttle from the airport to the harbor, which is 10 minutes away, and from there you can take a 10-minute ride on small barges to Boracay🏝️. We booked into a classic tourist hotel for the days. Nice room, big pool, etc. We were the only Europeans😂.

The highlight of Boracay is the "White Beach". 12 km long. The beach is truly breathtakingly beautiful 🤩 and the water is crystal clear, we have never seen anything like it. On one side the water, then the 🏖️ beach, lined with palm trees, and then there are hotels, restaurants etc., of course without cars and scooters. The sunset 🌅 there is indescribably beautiful 🤩. This part is divided into three stations, Station 1 with luxury hotels, Station 2 with normal hotels and many restaurants and great seafood buffets and Station 3 with simpler restaurants and hostels. At Station 1 there is also the DMall, a wonderfully laid out shopping mile with souvenirs, typical Filipino food and live music.

In the north of the island is Puka Beach and next to the residents' corrugated iron huts, a completely new area is being built by Megaworld with the Savoy and Belmont hotels, exactly like in Cebu Mactan. Totally crazy and only for the super rich. "Wolfgangs" from New York opened there a month ago. A steak without side dishes costs 5600 pesos. For comparison, a lobster 🦞 at the seafood market only cost 2000 PHP, normal food 500 PHP and a seafood buffet 1100 PHP.

On the opposite side, just 300 m from our hotel, is the Surf 🏄‍♂️ beach. Also beautiful and a bit more original.

We spent 5 wonderful and unique vacation days here😎🏖️🐠
