Our first day in Melbourne started off relaxed. After breakfast we went back to sleep.
Fit and well-rested, we then went on a stroll through Melbourne. This time on foot.
The first stop on the agenda was the Skydeck. Our hotel was directly opposite. On the Skydeck you have a fantastic view of the whole of Melbourne - from a height of 280 metres. Absolutely beautiful!
Afterwards we strolled on foot. Unlike other cities, Melbourne does not have just ONE attraction, but many beautiful places, and the city center itself is an attraction.
I always knew that Melbourne is by the sea, but I didn't know that a river also flows through the city. And so the city is exactly to my taste.
We strolled through the alleys, shopping arcades and malls and took in the city's impact.
It must be said that after Japan we are really spoiled by big cities…
In contrast to Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto, Melbourne is rather dirty and, like in German cities, there are a few wild characters running around. But well, Japan was probably a thing of its own.
Leaving Japan aside, Melbourne is really beautiful and has a very special atmosphere.
This was especially noticeable in the evenings when we walked along the river and street artists showed off their talents.
We took a pizza back to our room and then went to sleep quickly. Tomorrow we want to drive along the Great Ocean Road.
Ps: we still can't quite grasp that we are actually in Australia. We'll see when that happens.
