Abel Tasman

شايع ٿيل: 30.03.2024

On March 26th we made our first stop at the Punakaiki Blowholes. There were large rock formations to see, the individual layers of which were clearly visible. This is why the rocks are also known as "Pancake Rocks". Since the sea is always wearing away some of the rock layers and eating holes in the rocks, the water sprays through these holes at high tide.

We then went on to a sea lion colony, to Westport and Murchinson and finally to Lake Rotoiti. That's where our campsite was. The next day we went for a walk and had a coffee in the village of Saint Arnauld.

On March 28th we headed towards Abel Tasmam National Park. This is the smallest and most visited national park in New Zealand - in the very north of the South Island. There we went to the beach and did a bit of hiking.

We then continued to Nelson, via the Queen Charlotte Drive back to Momorangi Bay and on March 31st from Picton by ferry to Wellington.
