"But it's not cold today," said the taxi driver as she let us out into the pouring rain, wind, and fog. The rain, in particular, stayed with us almost until the end. So we were once again soaked to the bone (and celebrated the next Föhn orgy at the end of the day). Anne was especially annoyed by the weather today and wanted to get through it quickly. In other words, she was moving along the wide and easy paths like Speedy Gonzales. Completely drenched, we reached Glaisdale and wanted to warm up a bit before the extra KM to Lealholm, where we had booked. A friendly local directed us to the local pub. Well, we had already been to the 4th highest pub in England. Now we were also in the unfriendliest one. There was nothing to eat. We should have booked a slot beforehand (the pub was mostly empty), and the cappuccino tasted like hot water with an indescribable aftertaste. Moreover, all overnight guests were given ridiculous fluffy slippers. We spent the extra walk to Lealholm with the idea that all bad words start with W like weather, wet, Wetterau, wisdom teeth, queue, Alice W., Weselsky, Vladimir Putin, etc. Next challenge: at the accommodation, we were informed that there would be no dinner on Sunday evening :-( Unfortunately, the agency hadn’t informed us of this. And foolishly, we had only eaten 2 granola bars after breakfast. But thank goodness we managed to persuade the nice hosts, and we still got vegetable lasagna and chocolate cake for us :-) Now we are satisfied and gathering strength for the last 31.5 km tomorrow.
