Today we said goodbye to the Aninga Lodge early in the morning. We took a boat ride back to La Pavona, which took an hour. Since it rained again at night, the river was much higher and everything looked different - but as always, it was an experience.
Unfortunately, the dock had turned into a steep, slippery slope and our suitcases in the supply boat had gotten wet from the rain.
We continued by bus to Guapiles, where we picked up our rental cars after having a meal to recharge.
Now the experience of "driving ourselves" could begin. Jörg took the wheel and we drove southeast towards the Caribbean, Porto Limón, where we got stuck in a Chiquita - banana - jam. Everyone was heading east - maybe going home? Then we continued to Cahuita. The initially wide roads became narrower, the bridges became single-lane - there are many of them here. Unfortunately, it got dark and our navigation system led us straight into the national park ... There are no addresses here. Now we also understand why driving in the dark is not recommended. Pedestrians, cyclists, no lights, and pitch black ... all people are also very dark 😊.
But in the end, we found El Encanto Inn. It seems to be a very safe, cozy, and very small hotel (6 rooms) with 2 small pools.
After moving in, we were shocked - Jörg's suitcase was not waterproof and it got soaked in the jungle rain. It looks like laundry day here ....
