First stop at Wycliffe Well, where many UFO sightings used to happen. There were lots of alien stuff to admire there.
Then drove all the way to Alice Springs. Checked into the hostel and had lunch. Most people just wanted to hang out, but I wanted to explore the city. So I went out and ran into Jing, the Chinese girl. She was standing next to her car and told me that she locked her keys inside. Without hesitation, I started thinking of solutions.
You could only open the trunk of her car by pressing a button or using the mechanism. We tried using the tent stakes to somehow reach under the window and unlock it. The idea wasn't bad, but the stakes couldn't really grip, they would just slip off, so it didn't work.
More and more people from our group gathered around the car. We searched the internet for solutions. A rope from one side to the other inside the door to somehow pull the latch up, just like in the old days with a wire coat hanger. But with everyone fumbling around together, it didn't work properly either. Jagoda almost made it to the latch, then Jing came and the rope was out again. In the end, Jing called friends who opened the car for $100, a bit more professionally, but using the same method.
Then we went through the pedestrian zone with Jesús and Jagoda. After that, we went up to Anzac Hill. In the evening, the three of us went out. When we left the club, Jesús smoked a cigarette. One of the many Aboriginal people in Alice Springs came up to us and asked for one. Jesús replied that he didn't have any left. Jesús got pushed and the guy shouted, 'I'm a fucking Australian!' He interpreted it as if we didn't see him as equal, just because we didn't have cigarettes.
We were shocked, and I tried to explain that we got them from others. I also got pushed, but I couldn't steady myself and fell. Both elbows and my left knee hit the ground. And my glasses flew high in the air, two meters away. Jesús and Jagoda immediately looked for them, but they were gone. Just disappeared. No one claimed to have seen anything. I was furious. I had just bought them in Australia. Alice Springs will definitely not be my favorite place in Australia. Jagoda disinfected the wounds and covered them with band-aids. What a day! Luckily, I had my spare glasses with me. I would have been really screwed without them!
