On this day, we went to the harbor at 7 o'clock in the morning, because that's where the boat to the Great Barrier Reef departed. After two hours, we arrived at our first stop on the reef. Here, we were able to snorkel for the first time. I also got to try scuba diving, albeit by mistake, but it was free ;). We went down to a depth of up to 6m. Definitely an interesting experience. I saw a stingray here and various other sea creatures.
After a healthy lunch, we continued to the beautiful Michaelmas Cay, a bird habitat made entirely of sand in the middle of the reef. Here, you could explore a huge, colorful reef with numerous rainbow fish and other interesting animals. Unfortunately, there were no sharks as they are very shy and endangered.
Afterwards, I was quite exhausted and could sunbathe on the deck during the journey back (a little too much, as I now have a slight sunburn). A beautiful day.
