Woke up at 7 am and packed my things. Filled up the hydration bladder and stowed it in my backpack.
After a coffee and croissant, I said goodbye to the guys and headed towards Quirl.
While climbing 200m from Königstein to Quirl, I noticed that the backpack was putting a lot of pressure on my shoulders.
Took off the backpack, took out the rain cover, put the backpack back on (it's so heavy!). Put on the rain cover and continued.
On to Pfaffenstein and another 150 meters of elevation. There is supposed to be a restaurant up there and I also want to see the Barbarine rock formation.
Monday and Tuesday are closing days. Then there's only a soda from the vending machine.
I couldn't see the Barbarine because the opening is too narrow for my backpack. Maybe another time.
Continued, the rain has stopped. Put the heavy backpack back on. Descended Pfaffenstein and ascended Heideberg on the other side.
3 mountains on my first day. I'm tempted to set up my tent in the wilderness here on Heideberg, but my destination is Gohrisch.
So went back down and after a few kilometers, I reached the campsite in Gohrisch.
Camping is not allowed here, or there are no available spots. The friendly lady at the reception could offer me a narrow emergency spot that's 2 meters wide. Great, that's enough for me.
So I set up my tent and soon the first curious people came. With such a big backpack and tent and dog, what are you up to?
The neighbor across offered me a coffee for breakfast.
After a nice warm shower at this small beautiful place, I went to bed at 8 pm. Tired and exhausted.
Lesson of the day:
The backpack needs to be adjusted differently.
