From Hwange National Park, we continued to the next park, Matopos. This park is home to a large population of white rhinos. With our guide, we went on foot to search for them and found a bull and a mother with a calf. Rhinos usually tolerate humans in close proximity as they have no natural predators, and we were able to approach them to about 15 meters. Matopos Park is also known for its San cave paintings.
Because there can be wait times of up to 10 hours at the Zimbabwe-South Africa border, we spent another night in Botswana before heading to South Africa. In the famous Kruger National Park, we went on our last safari drives. The highlights were hyena cubs, a leopard (unfortunately it was only sleeping), a cheetah, and a large pride of lions.
In Johannesburg, the first leg of our world trip came to an end, and after a month of camping, we can finally enjoy the luxury of a comfortable bed and stable Wi-Fi again :D
Tomorrow evening, we will continue to Madagascar.
