After a peaceful night, the day started at 6:00 am. I wanted to leave by 8:00 am at the latest to cover the remaining 250 kilometers. Although the ferry only departs at 3:30 pm, you never know. After my morning routine with a cold shower - I forgot to get a 2 kroner coin - I wanted to make myself a cup of tea. The cabin had a hot plate. Great, I thought, I don't need to unpack my gas cooker. There was also a pot. So, water in the pot, plug in the socket, turn it on, put the pot on the plate, and wait. In the meantime, I packed my things and stored everything back on the motorcycle. The breakfast was as frugal as the dinner the night before. The remaining mini meatballs and the yogurt should be enough. And then the tea... by now, about 20 minutes had passed, and the hot plate had only managed to warm the water a little. I was aware that it would be cold on my journey, but I hadn't expected it to start with the shower and the tea.
However, I didn't want to pack everything again to get to my cooker. So I reduced the amount of water to one cup, and after another 10 minutes, I actually had boiling water.
I arrived at the ferry terminal around noon without any incidents. Started with cloudy skies and 18 degrees, encountered some drizzle along the way - 16 degrees, time to wear a sweater under my motorcycle jacket. Dry again upon arrival - 19 degrees. So it works. Check-in was quick, then it was time to wait. Masses of vehicles poured out of the belly of the newly docked MS Norröna. Motorcycles primarily GS's and their derivatives, all sorts of off-road vehicles on 4 or 6 wheels, buses, and homes on wheels. The stream doesn't end. I read that over two million tourists are expected to visit Iceland this year. At 2:45 pm, it was our turn, Suzi and I disappeared through the hole in the ferry's stern.
