After a few more terrible days at the beach with turquoise water and white sand, we decided to explore the island by scooter. Equipped with our super sexy cloths that are supposed to cover our shoulders and knees and a fully fueled scooter, we were ready to go :) Angie picked out 3 temples. Mission find the Big Buddha could begin. After a while of driving, the GPS said, You have reached your destination! Um, yeah, we were standing on a road and no Buddha in sight. Let's keep driving, it can't be far. After another 5 km, we finally arrived. The GPS in Thailand is probably just a rough estimate :D The Buddha statue was very beautiful and especially huge. At the foot of the Buddha, a monk was sitting and waved us over, and then blessed us. It's like this: you kneel with folded hands in front of the monk, who sprinkles you with blessed water from head to toe and mutters to himself. In the end, we received a lucky bracelet as a gift and were blessed again. We are now blessed with a lot of luck. I feel almost like a lucky bear :D Then we went to Wat Plai Laem, it looks a bit like a tourist attraction, especially for Chinese people. Colorful, very colorful, but you have to see it :) Lastly, we went to see the mummified monk, who supposedly died while meditating 20 years ago and has been in this condition ever since. It was pretty spooky. Today we went to a viewpoint high up on the mountain. Our scooter wasn't too happy about the steep path, so Angie had to walk :D Of course, I waited at the top like a good girl. Didn't help much though, we couldn't make it all the way to the top, the gas was running out and it was too steep :D But the view was already beautiful from there :) Now we needed a cool-down urgently, man, it's really hot today :/ We looked for a waterfall, can't go in the sea anymore, the water is too warm. For us, used to the Mühlaugerpumpen, it's really tough :D When we arrived at the waterfall, there was an elephant camp with a very cute baby <3 Finally got to see that too :) But now into the water. The sign said waterfall in 800 meters, but nobody mentioned that the 800 meters were all uphill :/ Uphill here was a roughly 40% gravel road :) But the water was all the more refreshing :) Finally, we treated ourselves to some food at a market and now it's off to bed.
See you! XXX
