Petter Dass and the Sea

Gepubliceerd: 12.08.2022

The weather is slowly improving. There is hardly any rain anymore, but the wind remains strong and with cloudy skies it is around 13°C.

But the children don't mind. Konstantin is cold-resistant anyway (especially when he can play with water) and Julius has to warm up in the motorhome from time to time.

So it was a good opportunity for us to visit the Petter Dass Museum on our way to the south of Norway.

Petter Dass was a Norwegian theologian from the 17th century who shaped the Lutheran Church in Norway and, for example, enabled large parts of the population to access religion through 'simple' but very beautiful hymns.

In his honor, a modern museum was built next to one of the oldest churches in northern Norway, which was one of his workplaces.

The pictures speak for themselves.

After this (cultural) warm-up phase, we continued to Vega, a small island that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Why? The solution will be revealed tomorrow.
