After a 30-hour journey, I finally arrived in Tokyo. Exhausted, I went through immigration, where I was afraid of not being allowed into the country because I was traveling while half-sick and they are still quite strict. Fortunately, everything went well and I arrived at the hotel.
The next day, I went to explore the famous Ginza district and had the famous fluffy pancakes for breakfast at a restaurant.
There was a lot to see that I think you can only find in Japan. For example, all the vending machines with really good food or drinks inside.
In the evening, I went back to the hotel to wait for James, who arrived from Hawaii. We had dinner at a sushi restaurant. The fish was so fresh and delicious.
On the second day, we had to go to the traffic department first to have our driver's licenses translated because we had a go-kart tour planned. After having something to eat, we headed to the most famous squares and streets.
Tokyo is really something special, not only the people and the food, but also the entire architecture.
For dinner, we went to a noodle restaurant. We faced a problem there. Since almost no one in Tokyo can speak English and everything is only written in Japanese, you don't know what to order. Furthermore, you have to order your food at a machine in all the restaurants, not with a menu. So it was a surprise to see what exactly we got.
On our last full day, we first went to the famous temple, where there was also a cute shopping street with souvenirs.
The temple looked exactly as Japanese as I had imagined it.
Then we went to one of the most famous markets in the city. The food was so good and really fresh. I don't think I've ever seen such fresh fish before.
In the late afternoon, we had a go-kart tour across Tokyo. It was so much fun and we felt like race car drivers. We discovered the city from a different perspective.
For dinner, we had a food tour planned. (Thanks, Mom 😇)
We met our group and the guide who was really friendly and funny. Our tour took us to 4 different restaurants with about 8 different dishes. We tried everything from all kinds of sushi to noodle soup, meat, and Japanese alcohol.
Unfortunately, the short stop in Tokyo was already over, but I know that I will definitely come back because there is still so much to see.
