Ball-shaped weather capers

Ippubblikat: 18.11.2018

What can I say, it's raining. Today the blooming comes to an end. We still have a packed sightseeing program ahead of us before we reach our next destination.

We start with packing our bags. Next stop is Smallibeach.

That one wasn't actually planned, but it happened by chance.

A little bay... and suddenly this.

And that without an entrance fee.

And it's raining.

Next stop: the tunnel. Originally a one-hour walk, but it's so cold and wet that we will only go as far as we can see it.

A short proof photo that we really were there.

Dunedin train station

and Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world.

So steep that the sidewalks are stairs. The slope of the 350 m long street is just under 35% (19.3 degrees).

It's pouring so much that the water is already coming out of the drains.

This weather drives you crazy. Rain,

sun,

hail,

sun,

and rain again.

The Moeraki Boulders are our penultimate destination.

Round stone balls, so-called "concretions," on the beach. Fascinating what nature creates.

But now let's quickly go to Oamaru,

there's supposed to be a festival. They can already feel sorry for them, rain and f...... cold. The festival was already over when we arrived. What a shame. What a shame.

Okay, first let's look at our new accommodation. We had already read from the reviews when booking that it should be quaint. Yes, it is, I would say England around 1900, just with a TV, refrigerator, and electric blanket in bed.
