Île de Ré/ Loix and Ars en Ré
This morning we take a walk through the village of La Courade sur mer. There is a small market hall and a weekly market. It's much more relaxed today, as the weekend is over and many tourists have left.
This afternoon we want to go to Loix and Ars en Ré by bike.
We ride through the salt marshes and along the sea.
Loix is a small village surrounded by salt marshes with a cute village square. Time seems to have stood still here.
We continue towards Ars en Ré.
Again through the salt marshes, passing many stalls.
Ars en Ré is also a sleepy little town and was once voted the most beautiful village in France.
There is a small tidal harbor (with an ice cream parlor 😉) and really narrow streets.
We stock up on Fleur de Sel at a salt products store and ride back.
It has become really hot now. Just a week ago, we were wearing jackets and now we're in shorts.
In the evening, we sit by the sea and enjoy the sunset.
