A very impressive sight and much more a reminder of peace, especially in today's times more relevant than ever. By the way, the soldiers on top of the building are arranged all around. They look in all directions and are meant to remind all countries of peace.

And here are a few facts:

From October 16 to 19, 1813, Leipzig was the scene of the Battle of the Nations. The allied armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Sweden won the decisive victory over Napoleon and his allies on German soil. The balance: 600,000 soldiers from over twenty nations were involved, 100,000 dead or wounded, and a typhus epidemic in Leipzig that cost ten percent of the population their lives.
