Today we go again to the Grand Palace, this time with identification. Among stands that offer free water, food, and medical care, we walk together with a large group of black-clad pilgrims to the entrance. After the security check and ticket purchase (price per person: 500 Baht ~ €15...), we enter the impressive courtyard. Right at the beginning is the sparkling chapel with the Emerald Buddha. In addition to the pilgrims, who are all waiting in line to honor the deceased king, there are also masses of tourists, all trying to find a shady spot. The heat in the sun is unbearable. After taking a look at the palace itself, the tour is already over.
For us, we continue on the Chao Phraya Express at the opposite pier.
Once to the end station and back to Chinatown. During the ride, you have a great view of the city. In Chinatown, there are small stands with food, jewelry, clothing, and more on both sides of the street. The further you go, the narrower the alleys become. Spices, fish, meat, vegetables that you have never seen before. There are also two large Chinese temples along the way.
