we-in&around Perth

Nature, animals, city, sand, sea, wine, caves, quokkas - all have something in common... nothing? = correct! - our last days in Western Australia were very diverse... lots of nature, many national parks, and lots of lying on the beach, reading and relaxing, and of course, living in the most livable city in the world. Living in the most expensive area of Perth directly on the beach in a parking lot, where you can secretly camp for free, as the 50-year-old stoner in his bus assured us, as he has been sleeping there every night in his VW bus for 3 years. Top address beautiful beach, like so many others.

On the way to Perth, we battled through more national parks and scorching heat, climbed sand dunes, and hugged strange rock formations in the desert. With the stromalites, we also visited the oldest and most original organisms ever - super exciting - well, you can't see bacteria that well and a few rocks in the water only look impressive at sunset.

The Natureboy did some climbing to show what he can't do. In the Nature Window, we cuddled a bit.

We found another "Mädchensee", so in pink, of course, as we were assured. There was even "BASF" written at the entrance.

On the way, we came across herds of kangaroos, all grazing calmly around us, with baby kangaroos in their pouches. And next to them... koalas, doing what they do best... sleeping and eating, similar to me (Wendo).

On Rottnest Island, an hour by boat off the coast of Perth, we visited the happiest animals in the world and spent a whole day cycling or cuddling with them. Yeah... these animals look like rats, but they are small kangaroos, known as quokkas, that only exist on this island. We would have loved to take 2-3 of them with us, but (they just don't fit in the cooking pot) :-( ... 'Sabrina says I shouldn't write that because they were soooo cute' ... let's say because they didn't fit in the suitcase.

Since we are big sommeliers, we didn't want to miss the wine region below Perth in and around Margaret River. After 4-5 wineries with at least 8 wines each, it's best to climb one of the 60m high fire trees that are everywhere in the area to look out for fires in earlier times (Australia is also called Fireland). The whole thing with metal rods hammered into the tree without any safety measures.... yay... Australia, you know!

We are currently at the airport waiting for our flight at 1.10 AM, so 7 hours earlier for you, to fly to Cairns and be 10 hours ahead of you, mentally and physically, of course... Back to the future, so to speak... We will get in touch with you again from the other side of Australia! See you later, Alligator!
