The port city of Cartagena on the Caribbean coast of Colombia convinces every traveler with its charm. A beautiful old town with large squares, cobblestone streets, narrow alleys, colorful colonial houses, colorfully dressed fruit vendors and all this in warm, tropical weather.
So it was also difficult for me to leave the city after over a week. What did I do during this week? Actually not much. The focus of my activities was strolling through the lovely old town, hiking along the city walls, visiting the beach and shopping for souvenirs. With a scoop of ice cream or a cup of coffee, I enjoyed Colombian life. Music was played on every street corner, dancers and comedians provided entertainment on warm summer evenings, and I let myself be enchanted by this Caribbean spell.
