Owensboro, Kentucky, Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum
The concert featuring Sierra Hull and her band will take place on Friday, October 13th at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum. There is a two-time IBMA Award winner for best sound at the mixing desk and I notice that during the concert.
Sierra Hull and band play for almost two hours non-stop from 7 p.m. Many of their own pieces from recordings that were released some time ago, but also new, previously unreleased pieces. I was particularly impressed when she played the piece “Brilliancy” alone as a tribute to Sam Bush’s induction into the Hall of Fame. The band then joins in, in front of a microphone, and they play David Grisman's “Dawg's Bull,” also in recognition of the Hall of Fame induction. Later they play “Stompin' Grounds” by Bela Fleck (a piece that I also played often with my band “Plums'n'Dogs”). I am also impressed by the beautifully sung version of “Black Muddy River” by The Grateful Dead. Overall a great concert. After the show, Sierra comes to the stage and signs autographs and I can take a photo with her. When I tell her I'm from Germany, she says that she's coming to Germany with Bela Fleck in February. Excellent!
