In January, my husband came across a promising opportunity while looking for a place with a lot of joy of life and little bureaucracy for a business: COSTA RICA.
At first, I didn't think much of it, as Waldemar is known for having many travel ideas and often making new plans. But this time it was different.
About two months later, Waldemar started talking about Costa Rica and delving deeper into the research. Topics such as schools and international insurance came up, and I noticed that an idea had turned into a solid plan.
As a result, I also became interested in the country and started looking for information about Costa Rica. I wanted to know what it's like there, what activities are offered, and what special features the country has.
I was amazed by what I found. Costa Rica is a beautiful country with a rich culture and breathtaking nature. The biodiversity, the pleasant climate, and the relaxed way of life were additional factors that inspired us.
We told our children about our plans, and they were excited about the idea of exploring the world and gaining new experiences.
Then we all agreed: we would travel to Costa Rica and start a new chapter of our lives.
We spent months preparing for this trip and planning everything carefully. We discussed where we wanted to live in Costa Rica for 3 months, what activities we wanted to do, and how we would financially secure ourselves. We learned about destinations, accommodations, and transportation options. We contacted online schools, looked for flights and cars.
Waldemar took care of everything regarding our dog, Hippie. Because our dog is always by our side and of course should come with us. This included calling the Foreign Office, visiting the vet, and ordering a transport box.
When we finally booked our flight ticket, my heart raced. The anticipation was very high. Was I afraid? No, because as long as we are all together, everything will be fine. It was certain: our new life would begin on September 1, 2022.
Next, we all searched together for accommodation. We made our decision quite quickly. A small house in Protrero - right by the pool and only a 10-minute walk from the beach.
Waldi also bought a car online. I'll tell you another time how we came to that decision.
But before we could start our journey, there was still a lot to do. We had to dissolve our apartment and say goodbye to our friends and family. It wasn't easy, because we have many beautiful memories in our old apartment and in our hometown of Angermünde. We said goodbye to our neighbors, friends, and colleagues and told them about our plans.

We also said goodbye to many things that were dear to us but did not fit into our travel plans. We got rid of old stuff and focused on the essentials. In the end, everyone had only one large suitcase and a small carry-on bag. We temporarily separated from our car to be flexible and independent on the journey.
The time of preparation and organization was a challenge, but we mastered it. Now we are ready to embark on our journey and experience all the new adventures that await us. We are full of anticipation and ready for what's to come.
