Aloha!

Today, after a long time, the alarm clock rang because we actually wanted to go to Pearl Harbor. However, Mareike didn't feel better after taking the medication from the doctor last night. And if that should be the case, the doctor said, we should go to the hospital. Said, done.

So we took an Uber to the hospital. When we arrived there, they told us that no doctors treat here 🤦🏼‍♀️ and we have to go to another hospital. After a long back and forth, the nice man at the reception ordered a taxi for us, which then took us to a hospital with treating doctors!

In the second hospital, it felt a bit like at the airport, our bags had to be scanned and checked, just like us. Then we were asked some questions until we were allowed to take a seat in the waiting room.

However, we didn't have to wait long until it was Mareike's turn. We followed the nurse to the emergency room, where Mareike was treated in the hallway. 🙄

After about 1 1/2 hours at the hospital, we could return to the hostel. We quickly changed and went straight to the beach 🏖.

There we 'enjoyed' the hot midday sun and took a refreshing dip in the sea. However, after about an hour, Mareike left me again, it was too hot for her and she went back to the hostel, I stayed on the beach.

At 2:30 p.m. we met again at Burger King to have lunch together.

Then we went to the pharmacy to pick up Mareike's medication. At the latest now, after the two doctor and hospital visits and the medications, I know why a large part of Americans cannot afford health insurance. 😳

On the way back, we happened to pass a farmers market and were able to buy vegetables cheaply! 🤩 Vegetables in the supermarket are hardly affordable here, we paid $2 for 230 grams of cherry tomatoes, in the supermarket we would have had to pay at least twice, if not three times that amount. We also found fresh mushrooms and a fruit smoothie, which we drank at the beach and once again realized what an amazing time we are having!🤩

After that, we went back to the hostel, Mareike slept again, and I lay down in the hammock and played around with my phone. 🤳

In the evening, we met new German guys again, who arrived yesterday evening. We had dinner together and decided to do one or the other activity here on Oahu together.
