Day 42 - Tweed Heads - 02.10.2018

A warm 'hello' to everyone back home,

I'm here to tell you about our day in the beautiful holiday resort of 'Tweed Heads' south of the Gold Coast.

Our morning at the Christian 'The Log Cabin Camp' site was like so many of our mornings in Australia. After a hearty breakfast and the best weather (the sun was finally back), we set off for 'Tweed Heads' at around 10 o'clock. After cruising through the state of Queensland in our Lui for over 5 weeks, we reached the city with almost 52,000 inhabitants and a popular holiday destination for many Australians in the state of New South Wales at around 11 o'clock. Because it is exactly through this city that the border of the two states runs.

In advance, Janina & I had selected a nice and well-maintained campsite that was located a bit in the city center and not far from the coast. After checking the emails and WhatsApp messages from friends and family, we walked along the water for about 3 kilometers and let ourselves drift without any stress. As in almost all the places we've been to, we passed by the tourist information office and got some tips from the friendly staff as well as a city map.

At the northeastern tip of the city, we inevitably came across the viewpoint 'Point Danger'. This is a promontory at the southern end of the Gold Coast, where you had a beautiful panoramic view of the sea and could look far into the distance. There is also the 'Centaur Memorial' monument at 'Point Danger', which commemorates the sinking of the Australian hospital ship 'Centaur' by a Japanese submarine in 1943. We enjoyed the sun and looked out to the sea. As if by chance, a large whale appeared not far from the coast, swimming eastwards. We followed it for a while until it was no longer visible and disappeared somewhere in the vast sea.

Along the kilometers-long beaches, Janina & I strolled towards the city center, rested in the shade, and filled our empty stomachs with a cracker and a cereal bar (always with us!!). There was a lot going on on the water. Numerous surfers rode the not-so-low waves and showed off their skills. The coast of the 'Gold Coast' is perfect for all wave-riding enthusiasts.

Now it was already 4 o'clock and we passed by the supermarket on the way home and bought some things. Unfortunately, Janina had to call Camperman again due to our seemingly unsolvable problem called refrigerator. Since the company doesn't really want to help us and wants to ignore the issue, we have to call them every day and continue to put pressure on them. We will see what happens in the near future and report.

When we arrived at the campsite, we took care of some social contacts from home and sent greetings to Germany in the form of voice and text messages. In the evening, we had dinner as usual and the obligatory game session...

We love you all!!
