Raglan - Beach, Waterfalls and Surfing

प्रकाशित: 18.11.2016

Since Sunday evening, I have been in Raglan, unfortunately the weather here is extremely changeable and there was even an earthquake from Monday to Tuesday - at least that's what the hundred concerned messages on my phone told me - personally, I didn't notice the earthquake - I simply slept through it.

Since then, there has been a water shortage in Raglan, which means there are only short showers and the drinking water should be boiled beforehand.

On Wednesday, I went surfing for the first time with Fritz, Jannika, Felix, John, and some others from the hostel (Raglan Backpackers). It was pretty cool, but the waves were extremely strong and one of the surf instructors also said that the conditions were extremely difficult for beginners.

After 2 hours, I was completely exhausted on the beach, waiting for the others in the sun.

After we returned to the hostel and washed the wetsuits and boards, everyone went to the hostel's hot tub.

There is also a sauna here and 4 hammocks.

In the evening, I cooked noodles with vegetable sauce and later we had toast with chocolate spread and bananas from the sandwich maker.

Yesterday (Thursday, November 17), Janika, Fritz, Felix, and I went to a beach where the really good surfers are, and then to a lookout point in the mountains. The road we drove on sometimes turned into a gravel path and sometimes a small stream crossed the road.

After that, we went to a 55-meter-high waterfall.

At times it rained, but the sun also came out.

Today we were actually planning to go surfing again; however, we were told that the waves are too strong for beginners, so I spent the whole afternoon and evening strolling around the city and beach near the hostel 🙈
