We were picked up early in the morning. Trinidad is one of the larger cities in Cuba. We only knew that the city is beautiful, has a dreamy beach, and good nightlife.
We arrived in Trinidad and drove through the narrow streets. All cobblestone, it shook our brains with the old cobblestone.
Then we arrived at a relatively large Casa. The mother there greeted us with her 'daughter'. We had to climb steep stairs and the 'daughter' said to me 'Give me the backpack, I'll take it'. Then she snatched it out of my hands and climbed the stairs. It quickly became clear to us that Rebecca hadn't always been a daughter, but used to be her son. But when I gave her 3 kisses from a distance, I became the king there. We had an amazing view on the terrace and also met some young Germans who were also staying there, we had a great time.
In the afternoon, we explored the city a bit and had a small meal. The houses are quite interestingly built. Large balcony doors that you can actually see directly into the living room. In the evening, everyone opens the doors and windows and you can see everyone's living room. When we passed by one house, we saw 2-3 cats and Muriel stopped and said 'jöööö'. The person who lived there found it very funny and opened the door for us and we went into their living room and petted the animals for 30 minutes. We did that 2-3 more times on our way home.
The next morning, Rebecca prepared breakfast for us, of course with extra smiles and love..... That day, we went to the beach early. But it was quite touristy. Many hotels and accordingly many beach chairs. So we just took a beach chair and made ourselves comfortable.
It's hard to believe but suddenly I heard a familiar voice in my left ear. The Swiss couple we met in the taxi had also found a spot right next to us. I said 'Hi everyone' and they were just as surprised as we were. Then we all started laughing and we started begging again. A little later, I went on a snorkeling tour. We took a boat and went out for 1.5 hours of snorkeling. Unfortunately, the GoPro camera died. It was one of the most beautiful places for snorkeling that I have ever seen. Incredibly clear water and a thousand colors and fish. But also a lot of jellyfish. It was better to slalom around them. The journey back to the city was also quite an adventure. We asked the official taxis for the price. But it was so outrageously expensive that we didn't want to take it. Next to the road, a guy leaned on his car and winked at us. After a short conversation, he drove us back to the city for a third of the price :).
Most of the next days we took it easy, walked around the city, enjoyed Cuba bars with rum and mojitos, and talked to the locals. A very special atmosphere in Trinidad.
