From Cairns to Alice Springs, I made a stopover in Brisbane and was able to take a break at Laura, James, and Matt's place in the shared apartment.
On Wednesday, luckily with a chauffeur to the airport (thanks Matt😊), we headed to Alice Springs.
The flight over the desert was very impressive and I was a little afraid of the temperatures that awaited me there. The dry air made the whole thing somewhat bearable, so I was able to explore quite a bit of the small town of Alice Springs at 45 degrees. I was accompanied by Alex, a nice French girl who was staying at the same hostel. The highlight of our tour was the reptile center where we were able to handle three of the fascinating animals ourselves.
On the 3rd day in the Red Center, I finally headed to Uluru. I was picked up in front of the hostel early in the morning and driven further into the desert by car. The total journey took about 10 hours there and back! But the service was great, food and drinks were provided, and we were informed about many interesting facts.
In addition to visiting Kata Tjuta and the waterhole, where it actually started raining out of nowhere, the sunset at Uluru was of course a highlight! No one would say no to a barbecue and champagne at sunset at Uluru😉😊
