Day 5 - Six Reasons

01/06/2020 - 6 Reasons

Monday was travel day. After breakfast, we had to check out "quickly". Last time it was already record-breaking complicated and slow. This time, the processes were not optimal either. But we had enough buffer time and arrived at the airport well before departure. We had no problems flying to Delhi. At the airport, our guide Ravi Kumar, with whom we had already done the tour last time, picked us up. He brought us to the hotel, where checking in became an organizational highlight. Unbelievable. In the end, everyone was able to access the Wi-Fi with the name of someone else in the group...it works. The hotel is in urgent need of renovation, but if you overlook a few things, you can endure it... but not necessarily recommend it. Marcel summed it up with the sauna example: "on a pros and cons list for the sauna, there are 6 points on the con side. The end." In the evening, Ravi picked us up and took us to dinner at the "Kwaliti Restaurant Since 1940". After the two trendy places in Bangalore, this was a cultural clash at its finest. Elegant and with extremely courteous staff. Everyone except Ramon was completely underdressed... luckily, he was wearing shorts and flip-flops for once *roflcopter*. No, seriously, except for our two ladies, who are ALWAYS appropriately dressed, the rest of us were dressed casually. But no one thought it was a problem. The food was very good and came in small portions. There was something for every palate, but that didn't stop Marcel and Ramon from having a little chili battle. The waiters found it funny. We did too. With great self-control, both of them unanimously said, "that was weak!" After a really successful dinner, we said goodbye to Ravi at Connaught Place and walked around the inner circle of the promenade. After that, we wanted to have a little beer or a cocktail at one of the hotel bars. They immediately declared (extraordinary) happy hour due to the 8 German guests and so we managed to have 2 rounds within 90 minutes thanks to the high-speed bartenders :-) After saying goodbye to everyone for the day, a few of us returned to the now completely crowded bar. The "fantastic four" survived everything well, but they looked a bit wrinkled this morning. It was probably because of the last drink.
Insights of the day: Delhi is different, very different; flip-flops are ALWAYS appropriate, and no matter where you are, the last drink at 4 a.m. is always somehow bad.
