Today, we both woke up before 6 o'clock. Outside, the morning sun illuminates the banksias and we can't stay in bed any longer. We pack up and hit the road. Fortunately, the closed roads in the park were opened yesterday, so we can visit some of the 4WD-accessible campsites.
First, we want to go to Thomas Fishery, a secluded bay. The day before, the park ranger warned us about the difficult approach and feared that we might tip over or get stuck. He thought we were driving one of the Apollo 4WD motorhomes. But when he later saw our Red Sands, he gave us the green light. However, during the drive (18 km there and back), we sweated a lot, the adrenaline was flowing! It had everything. Narrow spots (I'm afraid the beautiful vehicle got a few scratches), soft sand (you swim more than you drive), and uneven stone slabs that shake the vehicle vigorously. And then someone came towards us on the way back! In the end, we were relieved when we had that behind us! But the place was glorious. Having breakfast on the beach, and we were all alone.
Afterwards, we went to Jorndee Creek. It was much easier to reach, just soft sand to master. Where the river flows into the ocean, a magnificent rock pool landscape has formed. Despite the overcast sky and wind, we take a bath there. It just looks too tempting. Fortunately, the sun comes out every now and then.
When it gets cloudy and cold again, we continue to the next campsite at Seal Creek. That's where we set up camp for the night. Birgit is cooking us pork tenderloin stir-fry with sweet potato patties today - delicious!
