Today was the day to try helicopter sightseeing for the second time with a window seat. We were again 4 people who set off today and said directly when booking that we would only fly if each of us gets a window seat. That worked out, but the weather didn't play along today. The sun was hiding and there were thick clouds in the skyscrapers of the city. So we couldn't fly so high, but that didn't matter because we were much closer to the sights. We discovered Manhattan, flew over the Hudson River, Brooklyn, and Liberty Island. Impressed, we landed again and drove from the helicopter landing site to the new district of Hudson Yards. Our destination here was The Vessel, also known as the stairwell. The 45-meter-high structure looks like a gigantic beehive from the outside and consists of 154 stairs with 2,500 steps on a total of 15 floors. We had a lot of walking to do here and enjoyed great views again and again. Now we headed back to Lyndhurst because for Lukas, Ben, and me it was time to pack our suitcases and prepare for the New Year's Eve celebration with the family. We all enjoyed a nice evening together and watched the famous Ball Drop on Times Square on TV. Welcome 2020. Lukas, Ben, and I set off for the airport around 1 am because our visa expired on January 2, 2020, and we had to leave the USA. So off to Canada.
