Tag 35: Flower-Power & Little India

For today we had planned to visit the huge greenhouses at Gardens by the Bay. First, we visited the Flower Dome. Here you can admire countless different plants in a huge air-conditioned dome, divided into different areas. For example, there is a Mediterranean corner, a desert landscape, or a Dutch section with a miniature water mill and tulip fields. Afterwards, we went to the neighboring building, the Cloud Forest. The first view after the entrance is the large artificial waterfall in the center of the dome. After a short walk around the "mountain", you come to an elevator that takes visitors to the top. From there, the circular route begins, which goes around the hill towards the ground. Since we were there at 2:00 p.m., we were lucky to see the water mist distributed by the installed nozzles throughout the building. This ensures that the tropical plants feel comfortable. When we reached the ground again, we entered an exhibition that appeals to sustainability and environmental friendliness through various films and artworks. Afterwards, we strolled through the nearby park once again to see the Supertrees by day and went to the neighboring mall. Since our wallet didn't exactly start laughing at the prices of the stores there, we decided to only eat something in the food court. With a full stomach, we made our way back to get ready in our accommodation and relax briefly, as we wanted to visit the little neighborhood of Little India in the evening. We walked from the MRT station through the streets, past various fruit, vegetable, and flower shops, to the well-known Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple. The atmosphere when you stroll through the colorful streets here really makes you feel like you're in the middle of India. When we stopped at an intersection, we were approached directly by a friendly man asking if we were looking for a table for two. After initial hesitation, we decided to eat in his restaurant, which turned out to be a really good decision. The food was not the cheapest, but incredibly delicious and really typical Indian.
