Merry Christmas from Coyhaique

Ebimisami: 27.12.2018

After our hitchhiking marathon from Chaitén to Coyhaique, we settle into our rustic cabin to cozy up for Christmas. And that's exactly how Christmas will be: cozy! On the 24th and 25th of December, we won't do much more than stroll through the town, shop, and plan our further journey. As a highlight, we'll have a video call with our families (thank you WhatsApp) and on Christmas Eve, we'll have sensational whole grain(!) noodles with pesto (a rarity here!). Accompanied by cucumber & wine. What more could you want! Later in the evening, we'll watch Loriot's 'Christmas at Hoppenstedts' in a very traditional manner.

We'll spend the second Christmas holiday hiking in Coyhaique National Park, but we have to be careful not to be devoured by annoying, brake-like flies. Or by a puma. They exist here too, but fortunately, we won't encounter the kitty. Apart from that, the hike is very beautiful, and it feels good to move around properly again.

Yes, and then our special first Christmas away from home is already over. We were also very happy about all the Christmas wishes we received! It's always very nice to hear from our families and friends back home! We're getting ready for the next day, because it's another 100km hitchhike to Villa Cerro Castillo - with our thumb out again. In our planning, we decided to hitchhike the remaining Carretera Austral southwards - regardless of unreliable bus companies and false statements. Let's see how that works out, but we're still very much looking forward to it!
