Kadidiri - Togians Islands - Sulawesi - Indonesia

It's 4 PM and there are still 2 hours before, according to the plan, the ferry leaves the port in Gorontalo. I already have my ticket and my spot on the ferry for the next 12 hours. Now all I have to do is pass the time at the port. I discovered a few warungs across from the port and decided to visit them, they had coffee and a delicious soto (Indonesian soup with rice and glass noodles) for me.

Afterwards, I boarded the ferry and watched a beautiful sunset. Around 7 PM, when it was already pitch black, the ferry started moving. It quickly gained speed and went into a monotonous ride in the same rhythm over a few waves which didn't bother me personally. Some others seemed to have had issues with it though. I ended the evening with a Bintang (beer) and then grabbed my mattress and sleeping bag and found a nice spot on deck. There, I set up my sleeping spot and went to dreamland under a wonderful starry sky.

I woke up when it was already getting light and the sun was about to rise on the horizon. It was another beautiful sunrise and I quickly noticed that there were small Robinson islands everywhere around me. I sipped my coffee and after a short further ride, the ferry reached the destination "Wakai" which was the main place here.

At the dock, a small speedboat was already waiting for me and some other guests, and it took us another 15 minutes to reach the island "Kadidiri". There, I once again settled into a beautiful bungalow right by the water and made myself comfortable in the hammock for the day.

The next day, I joined a small group consisting of 4 Indonesians and 2 French people. A speedboat took us to the volcano island "Una Una" in an hour's journey. Once there, the 4 Indonesians and I did a beautiful first dive. Then we went to the island and had our packed lunch. Afterwards, we went back on the water and did our second dive. The subsequent crossing took another hour, where we reached another local highlight. A freshwater lake where thousands of jellyfish, some of them as big as a hand, lived and we swam with them. It was initially a bit strange but gradually became more and more fun. On the way back to Kadidiri, we made a stop at a lonely beach where we snorkeled again.

The 3rd and final day on the Togians was very relaxed for me, I alternated between the hammock and eating... ;-)
