From Ben Nevis, located near Fort William, we head to the Glenfinnan Viaduct where the Hogwarts Express runs twice a day. Unfortunately, we were at the right place at the wrong time, an hour too early, and no one wanted to wait, so we only got a photo without the train. We continued to Loch Ness, but no news from Nessie. Our journey took us through Inverness to Hopeman, where according to National Geographic, we landed on one of the 20 most beautiful campsites in the world. It was nice there, but I thought "one of the top 20" was a bit exaggerated. The next day, our route took us further to Aberdeen and then near Dunnottar Castle, also a must-see in Scotland, as we would later learn in a bookstore in Edinburgh from a book about Scotland's most beautiful places. Unfortunately, the castle, or rather what's left of it from a distance, looked like a ruin, was already closed. We stayed overnight on the cliff coast and the next morning, in truly Scottish weather, suddenly numerous hikers appeared out of nowhere, where we had previously felt like we were at the end of the world, as we were resting near a bird sanctuary. We paid a visit to the breeding seagull colony and on our way back, we were constantly approached by bird watchers coming from even further away, asking, "Have you seen Puffins?" It seemed that everyone had come only for this nesting puffin. No Puffins! was our answer, but shortly after that, in another location, we saw whales, or at least we were all very sure that we saw something big beneath the water surface. We continued to Dundee and then to Edinburgh, a truly great city. We took a city tour with public transportation, everyone sat upfront on the double-decker bus, we visited a distillery and tried on cashmere tweed clothes, unfortunately, we didn't hear or see a single bagpipe player, but at least we saw a few men in kilts! We continued through Galloway, where, just like in the Highlands, we sporadically saw these cuddly giants. Today, early in the morning, we took the ferry to Ireland. We arrived in Belfast at 6 a.m. and we are now waiting in a parking lot to enter the TITANIC Museum. My fellow travelers have been caught by sleepiness, but we will be on our way soon!
See you soon!
