The weather report had predicted clouds but dry weather at 18° - 20° for today. It was even supposed to clear up in the afternoon.
Since I couldn't find accommodation within the desired radius and budget, I had to drive a bit further. To stay within the desired kilometer range, I even had to leave the Euro route. For that, I use a special app for bike routes. So in the morning, I took less frequented country roads. Not the most beautiful landscapes, but I kept making progress. The app occasionally led me back to the 'main route', which ran between the Doubs and Saone rivers.
Since everything went well until noon (weather-wise too, just a few drops), after my 'generous' lunch (see photo, thanks again to the nice neighbors), I decided not to take the shortcut suggested by the app. I wanted to ride along the Saone river according to my map, as I would be leaving it again tomorrow. The cloud cover was supposed to clear up too, and I had seen enough roads. The extra few kilometers (about 4 - 5) are not a big deal.
Of course, the route didn't always just follow the river, occasionally it was different than shown on the map and once it was closed with a detour. The cloud cover didn't clear either. On the contrary, there were two showers. Since it was still relatively warm, an unpleasantly humid air had developed.
Towards the end, I followed the app again and it led me along a less frequented and therefore overgrown dirt road.
But the 'Kaffee Crema' at the hotel, sitting in the sun (yes, then the cloud cover had opened up), tasted good.
