We celebrated the morning of our departure day in a very special way and took one last surf lesson. Arriving at Hiriketiya Beach after a 20-minute walk, there were no waves to be seen anywhere. And now what?
Well, load the surfboards onto the tuk-tuk and off to the next beach! 🏝️
We passed Isolabella and drove through narrow, jungle-like paths to an abandoned property. Beyond it was a lonely, expansive, beautiful beach! Wow, we were speechless! It's quite a feat to leave four women speechless 😅
The waves were perfect and of optimal height. We enjoyed our time so much 🌊🏄🏻♀️
Not only our surf instructor, Chamat, but everyone else was incredibly welcoming the entire time! I have rarely experienced such warmth in Germany!
Our breakfast table was set up in a very special way and all the staff at Isolabella came to say goodbye. We enjoyed the fresh fruits for breakfast one last time and even got a second portion. I will miss this taste so much 🥥🍉🍌🥭
Isolabella is such a wonderful place, and I can only recommend it to everyone to visit this place and the wonderful, diverse, and incredibly hospitable island 🌺🌸🌼
After breakfast and a touching farewell, we headed to Negombo. Negombo is a city by the sea, very close to the airport. We wanted to have a gentle reentry into normal life.
The hotel was perfect, and I'm happy to reveal that we paid €67 for a double room with a sea view for one night with two people. A true bargain for us, but a monthly salary for many Sri Lankans.
What did we do first? We went out to eat. We found a very nice, small restaurant not far from our hotel and ended up in food heaven. We savored every bite and every sip. And here too: we paid €40 for 3 people including tip 🙈
Of course, coffee afterwards was a must! We were so looking forward to the first coffee after 2 weeks. And the Sri Lankans can make great coffee as well ☕️
We enjoyed the sunset on our balcony and reflected on our vacation. We experienced incredible things and collected many wonderful memories. This vacation was simply perfect from beginning to end!
Memories that will last forever. Just like what we did after sunset. We had planned it at the beginning of the vacation and found Babu through Instagram. Thank you, Babu, for your amazing work 🖊️
We had a drink on the rooftop terrace, actually non-alcoholic, because we had enough wine for now after lunch 😅
When we returned to the hotel room to take a shower again, I received a message from John, to whom I had reported a few days earlier that we had booked this hotel for Negombo. And as fate would have it, John was also there that night! So we sat together in our room for a long time, talked, laughed together, and truly cherished the moment of being together!
Shortly after midnight, we went to the airport in Colombo in the moonlight. How did we get there? A friend of Babu's picked us up. That's how it is with hospitality here. Everyone knows someone, everyone is incredibly helpful. Oh Sri Lanka, you wonderful country 🇱🇰🐘🪷 I'm gonna miss you! Stutti for everything!
