Ngati Toa Domain, Porirua in Wellington
Since we will be taking the ferry from Wellington to the South Island on Friday, we are using the remaining days to explore the capital of New Zealand. Today we are going to the Waterfront, where we are impressed by the atmosphere of this promenade. In addition to many joggers, many people stroll along the Waterfront, sit comfortably in small cafes or listen to the music of street musicians in the sun. After an extensive walk, we arrive in the city center and take the famous Cable Car from here. This is a mix of tram and gondola that takes us to a large park with a view over the entire city. Just arrived at the top, we realize that our parking ticket will expire in a few minutes. Driven by the fear of a fine, we walk the entire way back to our car in a brisk pace. Fortunately, we don't receive a fine and extend our parking ticket. Then we sit down in a maritime restaurant right on the Waterfront and enjoy the half-price fish tacos: those were definitely not the last tacos! 🌮
In view of the fact that we will soon be heading to the South Island where there are only a few "Pak'n Save" - our trusted low-cost supermarket - we do a first big shopping and stock up on things like cans, pasta, and rice.
