Hey friends,
Our day started even earlier today than yesterday, in the middle of the night. Our alarm clock rang at 01:30 AM after only two hours of sleep. Our air conditioning in the room was broken, so it was hot there.
Nevertheless, we started at 02:30 AM, after the driver who picked us up was half an hour late. We and the rest of the group who were doing the trekking today drove for about an hour to a small local place, where they waited for us with a small breakfast (fried bananas, tea, and coffee). Then we were given a lunchbox, which included another breakfast to eat at the summit.
At 04:00 AM, our 2-hour hike to Mount Batur began, a volcano with a height of 1717 meters that last erupted in 2003. 🌋 It is occasionally really slippery due to the many loose rocks lying around. And I would again describe this path as a very strenuous workout. 😅
At 06:00 AM sharp, we arrived at the summit for the sunrise. 🌄 We had our breakfast leisurely and enjoyed the indescribably beautiful view. After the sun had completely risen, we were surprised by a few monkeys who stole our leftover breakfast. Just before we went back down to the valley for another two hours, our guides showed us the volcano's crater.
After the hike, we went to a coffee plantation to pick up some fresh coffee. However, we didn't stay there for long because everyone in the group just wanted to go back to the hotel and sleep, including us! 😴
We were back at our accommodation around 11 AM and even got another breakfast, the third within one morning 😅. After that, we took a refreshing dip in the pool, and then it was nap time! 😴
In the afternoon, Mareike and I gathered our energy again and went to the center of Ubud to stroll around. Afterward, we went straight to have dinner. 😊
Back at the hotel, we packed our backpacks and now we're comfortably sitting on our balcony, enjoying the evening.
Best regards from Bali, Ubud.
Your Jojo 🥰
P.S. Unfortunately, there are no pictures again today.. 😟
