Finally signs of life again!

Weşandin: 20.11.2016

Hello dear ones!

After weeks of laziness in writing and experiencing here is another short update from us!

The last time we heard from ourselves, we were in Florence... That was a long time ago.

We explored Italy up to the eternal city of Rome, marveled at a lot, admired a lot, realized that Rome certainly wasn't built in a day, and then headed north straight from there, over countless mountains into France!

Have you ever driven in the dark on winding roads in Italy with dense fog? That is definitely a good reason to reflect on your own mortality.

An unforgettable experience in the noisy Bulli with a only moderately functioning windshield wiper on the passenger side! (-at least for the passenger) Well, whatever, Yve got us safely across it and we arrived in Nice at the beginning of November. Still wonderful weather, still sun, beach and sea, many happy people, a beautiful city, a great promenade with a tragic history and countless street artists, we felt like in a movie! Unexpectedly, I even found some French knowledge that I thought I had forgotten, and so I managed to communicate even with the funny-speaking French people!

We spent several days in Antibes (between Nice and Cannes), where we met other travelers (from Rendsburg!), who had already spent many vacations on the Côte d'Azur and proved to be helpful and incredibly friendly guides. We hiked, swam and climbed, fled from jellyfish, admired harbors and yachts in Cannes and San Tropez, let ourselves drift and simply enjoyed the time. We spent a day in Marseille, sniffed the foul smell of the big city, tried to count the countless masts of the endless number of sailboats in the harbor, squeezed through the narrow streets and sniffed "Savon de Marseille" until our noses tickled. However, autumn slowly caught up with us, from which we had successfully escaped up until now, and cooler, strengthful wind blew from the sea, so we decided to gradually leave the coast.

So we followed the sign "toutes directions" that promised to take us everywhere, then discovered a sign that said Avignon, began singing and decided to drive there definitely to have danced on the bridge of Avignon. For those of you who don't have it in your ear right now, here is the really persistent earworm with subtitles to sing along :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJKfxtYAt0s

We stayed there for a while admiring city walls and the old town and getting to know people. A man in his forties from Leipzig, who was on his way to Spain by bike, taught us how to prepare potatoes in just 15 minutes during a joint dinner, and from another traveler, who has been living in his truck for several years, we received more valuable tips for life on wheels :)

We felt comfortable, we were completely in love with the city, but eventually we moved on - after all, France is big and there is still so much more to see!

We spent the weekend in Carpentras, where we attended a concert with French hippies, danced the whole night through once again and amused ourselves about clichés and prejudices and learned to master this French kissy-stuff sovereignly for greeting and farewell! And now we are heading to Lyon.

We are doing well, we are happy and we are more and more pleased every day that we just set off!

We will make an effort to let you hear from us soon.

Hugs!

Sarah
