Former Old Tiled Stove Factory Today Basic Culture Factory

I am pleased to have found my way to the listed Old Tiled Stove Factory. According to the local motto: “nature during the day - culture in the evening,” everything is done here to ensure that guests are delighted in culinary, artistic, cinematic, and musical ways.

The culinary offerings primarily include regional and organic products. Literally “from the field to the pot,” products from the producer are processed here. In addition to the dishes, the wine and cocktail menu invites one to enjoy a delight or two and is no mere drop in the bucket.

Originally, conventional ceramic bowls were produced in the now 171-year-old walls of the Old Tiled Stove Factory for the pre-industrial separation of raw milk. After the facility was completed in 1910, impressive tiled stoves were created here, which were used in Mecklenburg estates. The later factory owner, Kurt Conradt, had the portable tiled stove “KuCo” produced here, for which he was the namesake. During the GDR era, the consumer cooperative took over and supervised the sales outlets in the region from here.

For 30 years now, the Old Tiled Stove Factory has successfully combined art and culture, gastronomy, and hospitality and is a welcoming place for artists.

And that’s why I spontaneously extended my stay for one night.

Sandra, a very warm-hearted young woman, also gives me excursion tips for the region, and since it’s going to be a very hot day, I decide to take the Ferkeltaxe towards Mirow to the “White Lake” and simply do what everyone loves to do. Swim, sunbathe, sleep, eat, read….

Only in the evening do I return to the Culture Factory, and lo and behold… life, people, atmosphere. 🥳

It’s packed, but I’m in no rush at all and first have a Gin Tonic at the bar. This is where the best ideas come to me.

Since there is also cinema offered here, I naturally visit the late show. The movie “Born to be Wild” about the band “Steppenwolf” is playing.

Oh my God, I have to get up early tomorrow, it’s going to be hot again and I want to ride to Burg Stargard. 🚴‍♀️
