On Monday, my old flatmate and I started a road trip along the east coast. We went via Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and Noosa, where we spent the night. On Tuesday morning we went surfing and then we made our way to Agnes Water. On the way there we made a short stop in Bundaberg at the Bundaberg Distillery.

We started Wednesday with a morning on the beach in Agnes Water. Then we went via Gladstone to Mackey. We stopped at a roadhouse next to the highway. The pub in the roadhouse had a cool atmosphere and here you could experience real Australian life.

On Thursday we went on to Airlie Beach, the gateway to the Whitsundays. We spent the day on the beach and at the lagoon. Swimming is only possible to a limited extent here due to jellyfish.

On Friday we went on a sailboat to the Whitsundays. The Whitsundays are an archipelago with inhabited and uninhabited islands. First we stopped at a small island to go snorkeling. Then we went on to the famous Whitehaven Beach and to Hill Inlet, a viewing point with a view of Whitehaven Beach. The beach is actually completely white and miles long. After a 2-hour stay on the beach we went back to the sailboat, where a barbecue awaited us. Then we sailed back to the port of Airlie Beach, where we even saw dolphins.

We spent most of Saturday on the road. We passed Townsville and went to the Josephine Falls. Then we went to Bramston Beach and in the evening we finally went to the campsite in Babinda.

On Sunday morning we went to Cairns and then what was probably my best highlight in Australia awaited me: a flight over the Great Barrier Reef. The view was indescribable and fascinating, it's almost impossible to capture it in pictures. When flying over the various reefs and sand islands you can even see turtles and manta rays - a unique experience for sure. Afterwards we went to the Cascade Falls and in the evening we visited a small market in Sydney and then Sunday was over.
