Last month we spent on a campground in Gisborne: The Pirate Ship - the childhood dream come true for an adult. Mostly French and German backpackers lived here, but there were also some people from the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, or Australia. Among the many people, there were also some cats, including 3 kittens.
The first week and a half we worked on an apple field, exclusively with locals. Since we didn't get along particularly well with the boss, we changed jobs. The last 2 weeks we worked on a kiwi farm where some other campers from the campground were also working. Our job was to thin out the excess buds. It was a simple but very monotonous work.
So we diligently worked 8 hours every day as long as it didn't rain. In the evenings and on weekends, there was always a lot going on at the Pirate Ship. One Sunday, we all went together to the beach, another evening we each cooked something and we all ate together, and in the afternoon we were mostly at the beach where Niklas was trying out surfing.
With a few more dollars in our account, we are now heading to explore the East Coast and will be back for Christmas.
